Some know…… I like(love) research. LMAO, some may even think I take it to a crazy level. That may be, but know that I do so out of my love of you, my brothers and sisters. This article started out with the intent of asking for a no vote on the tentative agreement that the NALC and USPS has reached. While that is still my recommendation, the main point of the article has drastically changed…… unfortunately.

IRS Form 990 is your friend. It gives you a complete picture of your union, and how your dues are being spent.
Revenue of $1,885,950,335
Expenses of $1,960,619,681
Net Income of -$74,669,346
Total Assets of $788,889,117
The net loss seems to be from investments, with what appears to be approximately $55,000,000.00(million) increase in dues income to that counters some of the loss from investments.

This schedule adds up to approximately $385k, just read Part 5 of SCH L to understand……..

The most important column of Schedule J is column E as it represents the total expense of each person.
Notable Expenses | Percent of Total Expenses | |
---|---|---|
Executive Compensation | $12,105,878 | 0.6% |
Professional Fundraising Fees | $0 | |
Other Salaries and Wages | $43,794,398 | 2.2% |
IRS Form 990 shows us there are 28 voting members of the Executive Council, and 574 other individuals employed. What do those 574 employees do? I know some of them are invaluable and are there for all employees if a steward, or a member needs help with OWCP. Speaking of OWCP we really need to make a bylaw change and elevate it to a chair officer that will ensure they go to both Sate and National conventions.
Make sure you call the branch to get your absentee ballot. The meeting is November 12, 2024 a day after Veterans Day, so you know you will in all likelihood be working 12+ hours especially if you are ODL.
I retrieved my absentee ballot on Saturday, but from what I have been told members started to receive them either Thursday or Friday of this past week. I know some are planning to just come vote and leave the meeting. I recommend still voting via absentee ballot, still come to the meeting, and participate in the meeting especially if we are voting on motions brought up under new business. 2 things I would like to vote on November 12, 2024 is changing the meeting day from Tuesday to either Wednesday or Thursday. I also would like to vote on a motion to start holding meeting via Zoom that includes voting, giving your opinion, and crediting you for attending that will make you eligible to go to both the State and National conventions.

Here in Fresno, management types seem to like to complain that some stewards are being “difficult”. To this I say we are the least “difficult” bunch around, if you treat the City Letter Carrier humanely.
Remember that nlrb.gov, osha.gov, dol.gov are some of the many agencies that are there to help you with the abuse you receive from management type and management type witnesses.
Go Go Chiefs the Super Bowl Champions, isn’t Chiefs red so beautiful. Winning the Super Bowl 3 times in a row will be a great achievement.
