At a stand up, management made an announcement that Hughes is a Top bottom 10 station in the district. 🙂 Management gave credit to blamed the carriers for this, but I can guarantee you that this Top bottom 10 designation is 100% to the credit fault of management. Management should embrace this achievement accept the failures that they accomplished. We carriers aren’t worthy of the credit blame that was placed upon us.
Management told me I was wrong, so the above is what I believe needs corrected.
Article 14 & 19 covers work place violence and/or violent behavior. Fresno installation has a long history of physically, mentally, financially, and verbally abusing all craft employees, and it is getting worse by the day. The only way to solve this issue is to unionize. When you see a fellow employee being abused document the date, time, place, who was being abused, who was being abusive, and list all the witnesses. The steward will be able to pull TACS and find out if there were any other additional witnesses that need interviewed.
ELM
665.24Â Violent and/or Threatening Behavior
The Postal Service is committed to the principle that all employees have a basic right to a safe and humane working environment. In order to ensure this right, it is the unequivocal policy of the Postal Service that there must be no tolerance of violence or threats of violence by anyone at any level of the Postal Service. Similarly, there must be no tolerance of harassment, intimidation, threats, or bullying by anyone at any level. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the Postal Service
We all know the above section of the ELM is a lie, and everything listed after “no tolerance” is strongly encouraged by all levels of management. Sure the higher ups play lip service, but there’s at least 14 management types in Fresno that would be unemployed effective immediately if USPS took ELM 665.24, M-39 115, http://mseries.nalc.org/M01242.pdf, and http://mseries.nalc.org/M01243.pdf seriously and had a sliver of care for the craft employees. Cowardice at the top is why we are where we are, but change is in the air.
In Fresno there has been at least 3 documented cases of management types physically attacking City Letter Carriers, at Clinter, Cardwell, and Hughes. Do not allow yourself to be a victim, if you see any of these management types show up on your route call 911 and head back to your station immediately. Request that the manager remove the supervisor, if the manager refuses, do as I recently did fill out a PS For 3971 and request Admin leave under Article 14. Make sure you request either Larry or Paul to handle your Article 14 case at the formal level. Your family will be very sad if you are beaten to death by a management type, so do not let it happen to you under any circumstances.
Once 2026 rolls around and we elect James Henry for 2027 of the https://concernedlettercarriers.com we will start seeing changes very quickly. Corey Walton of https://fromatoarbitration.com will be the next Director of City Delivery and has vowed to send teams where ever needed to stop the abuse of the city letter carrier. Go to https://fromatoarbitration.com/episodes-201-300/ and listen to all these episodes then start working backward from here. Corey lays out his plan better than I could ever.
Also, no matter how many years you have carried mail, you can’t go wrong listening to the CCA Corner. It is very informative, and really puts it in perspective how underpaid, abused, treated like shit, and overworked the CCAs are both current and past. The last 4 years for the CCAs have been the worse, and is why there is such a high attrition rate.
We need everyone to come to the meeting and vote yes on the bylaw changes as there seems to be a clandestine movement to scuttle the rights of the due paying members to participate in meetings via zoom.
At the meeting on January 14, 2025 we need everyone to show up and vote yes on the bylaw changes as there seems to be a clandestine movement to scuttle the rights of the due paying members to participate in meetings via zoom. This clandestine group is trying to overload the meeting with NO! votes at the expense of you the due paying rank and file. If the rank and file do not show up and vote for the monthly meetings to be held via zoom, this clandestine group will have won. Only you the due paying rank and file can prevent yourselves as the supreme body of the NALC Branch 231 from being delegated to oblivion. Make sure you show up January 14, 2025.
Go Go Chiefs!!!!!
