In light of the MIGHTY Kansas City Chiefs winning back to back Super Bowls, and we are only a 7 weeks into 2024, so you have plenty of time to order your Chiefs gear, and show your appreciation to what could become the greatest NFL team of all time. Will the Reid/Mahomes combination surpass the Belichick/Brady coach/QB duo, it’s too early to tell. Brady always left money on the table, so the team could surround him with the best teammates possible. Mahomes seems to be in the same mindset.
Anyway, from the reports I am receiving, many despondent SF fans are missing today, some of the missing are management bootlickers, and others are strongly disliked by management. If you are a despondent SF fan, it is up to you to make sure you are treated exactly how management treats the bootlickers. Article 16 requires management treat all equally, even though they strongly dislike you. Make sure you mention the bootlickers at every opportunity to ensure you aren’t unjustly persecuted just because the management types have a personal vendetta against you. It may even qualify for an EEO, but for that to be determined you would need to call the branch and ask to speak to the EEO person the branch employs.

It is always interesting to me to see what other NALC members are experiencing, and I am always searching for information. I am not sure the size of this branch, but in 2023 the stewards filed over 1,400 grievances for the members. That’s around twice as many as our members filed, but ours weren’t filed because of lack of contractual violations from the management types that is for sure. Just in Fresno, Article 8 is violated almost everyday at its 5 stations, so just in Article 8 violations alone in Fresno the total number of grievances could easily be at 1,250 excluding all the other violations by the dissenters of truth. The difference is my brothers and sisters aren’t asking for steward time to file for said violations of the National Agreement.
From what I am hearing, at one Fresno station the clerks union won around $6,000.00/each in free money in the last month or so, because the stewards filed. While our branch probably couldn’t get that for every member, from my ball parking I believe some ODL could have received $4,000.00-$6,000.00 for the quarter if Article 8’s were filed. That is free money the members were cheated out of. Since grievances weren’t filed at at least 2 stations no one got the free money that is stipulated in the National Agreement. Ask for steward time, whenever you think there is a violation of the National Agreement. Don’t let the management types and management types witnesses tell you any different that all you need to do is site an Article number, you do not need to tell management anything else. They will learn what it is about when the steward files the request for information. If you aren’t sure about the Article number just say a possible Article 19, that just about covers everything.
Could ODL get this amount of free money every quarter, probably not; but I never under estimate the management types. So, anything is possible. My question is if you’re ODL could you have used $4,000.00-$6,000.00 in free money? I know I sure could have!!!!! If your answer is yes, ask for steward time. If you’re not sure if something is a violation call the branch, and ask, or call me, or ask your steward if you have one at your station. The resources for you the NALC Branch 231 member are there, but it is solely up to you to use them.
That is why you pay dues after all, is for us to help you. To help you, we do need your help though. Look out for your fellow NALC Branch 231 members. If you know someone isn’t a member encourage them to join. Strength comes through unity, and acting as one for the common interest of stopping the inhumane treatment we (non-bootlickers) receive on a daily basis.
What is happening at my station now, with zone 5 being adjusted, you have some that were working off the clock 10-15 minutes early almost every morning and commenting on how long the route they carry is over 8 hours, now working off the clock 20-30 minutes almost every morning because the route they are carrying was added to. We all know where this is going, after the next adjustment they will be starting even earlier working 35-45 minutes off the clock because the route they carry was added to again. This is an Article 41 violation, and the management types and management type witnesses are fully aware of this Article 41 violation. The solution is stop working off the clock, and fill out PS Form 3996. Once you fill out PS Form 3996 management has 2 options approve or disapprove it. If the management type tries to bully you, ask for steward time. It is Article 19, and depending on the repeated severity of the bullying it will be either a M-39 115, or a M-01242(click on the link below) violation. Your first step in the filing of the Article 19 is to demand that there will be a cease and desist in the bullying of you when the steward settles the PS Form 8190.

Here in Fresno, management types seem to like to complain that some stewards are being “difficult”. To this I say we are the least “difficult” bunch around, if you treat the City Letter Carrier humanely.
