CLC and What True Leadership Looks Like

Michael, March 23, 2025March 30, 2025

Real quick here before getting on to the main stuff. There seems to be some positive movement for both active carriers, retired carriers, and the poor going on in the United States Congress. Here are some of the proposals that will be highly beneficial to all of us that carry or have carried if they actually pass and become law: 1. No taxes on OT, 2. No taxes on Social Security, 3. No taxes on income less than $150,000.00, 4. No taxes on tips, 5. Interest on automobile loans will be tax deductible.

These proposals specifically help the middle class and poor. So it will be nice if they actually become reality. The best part it seems at this time the Trump administration supports them which is our biggest hurdle with anything. Call your Representative and Senator if you support any of these 5 proposals.

Maybe Representative Jim Costa can make it to a branch meeting to give us updates some time. Back in 2024 he did promise to come see us after the election.

Kimetra Simpson-Lewis is running on the CLC ticket in 2026 as the Vice President. If all branches had a President like Kimetra management at every level would be quaking in their boots from the repercussions of violating the National Agreement. This interview with Kimetra is a must listen to episode. I know I say that a lot. LOL

She was blackballed which is something that is very relatable, but over came that adversity because of her love for the city letter carrier. Kimetra is the President of NALC Branch 132 out of Texas, and is/was the president of our brother Eugene Gates who died on the lawn of a customer from heat exposure. Kimetra, along with brothers James Henry and Cory Walton believe in education, seeking out leaders, empowering the city letter carrier, and holding management accountable for their abuse of us in the rank and file.

Please take the time to listen to Kimetra’s interview on the Fed Up podcast. If it doesn’t inspire you to become active and start exercising your rights as due paying members, I don’t know what will. Without strong leaders like James, Kimetra, and Cory management will continue to run roughshod over us of the rank and file.

James Henry is putting together an impressive ticket for 2026. Keep checking the website for more details. Every announcement so far has been pretty impressive in my book, and increases my confidence in the NALC becoming a strong union once again.

The above is a link that should work. (LOL) If you missed the zoom meeting by the CLC on Saturday March 29, 2025. During this meeting it was announced that Corey Walton will be running for Executive Vice President of the CLC instead of Director of City Delivery.
Make sure you listen starting at 1:22 hour mark. Corey Walton talks specifically about the broken grievance process, and how the NALC controls the process. Listen for yourself, the CLC once they are elected seemingly will be addressing the issue of the NALC putting money above us the rank and file at every level.

As the next Executive Vice President of the the National Association of Letter Carriers(LOL) it seems Corey Walton and President James Henry understand that things needing to be addressed at the branch level, NBA level, and National level as there are so many not supporting us the due paying members. Watching the zoom yesterday gave me more hope that we in the rank and file finally will have the support needed at national once the CLC ticket is elected in 2026.

The CLC seems to be very big on transparency, so that is a huge change compared to what we currently from national down to stations.

Please do not leave the NALC. If you aren’t a member then you can’t help us that push for positive change in favor of the rank and file by voting. As you will see in the zoom meeting the way we start bring about change is the rank and file flooding every meeting, and voting for it. We the members are the supreme body of the NALC.
