I had a management type tell me that I was the only one that cared. Well thank you, and yes I do!!!! I think this management type was trying to insult me or something, but caring for my fellow sisters and brother is why I became a steward in the first place. Management is all upset, because I keep asking for steward time for the what may be daily violations of Article 8 & 41. I signed up for zone 5 ODL because I want to work 12 hours a day. It’s been 7 weeks since the start of the quarter, so by the time me and my fellow ODL zone 5 carriers get all the money for that we are entitled to it should make for a great payday. Who doesn’t like free money?
From what I am hearing on 11-18-2023 the new UARs may have been used to take entitled OT from ODL carriers. Ask for steward time and file. The new UAR are 8 hour carriers until 1-1-2024, if you see any UAR working over 8 hours ask for steward time to ensure that both Article 8 & 41 were followed to the letter.

As it turns out, Thanksgiving snuck up on management, and there could be Article 11 violations in at least 3 out of 5 stations so far. If you are A or F schedule, and get mandated to work on 11-22-2023, ask for steward time AND call the branch to report the possible Article 11 violation.
If you are a CCA, and are required to work on 11-22-2023 put in a written request for steward time, and call the branch to inform them that you need a steward. There may be an Article 11 violation, that needs to be investigated to determine if your rights under the National Agreement and/or Fresno LMOU were violated. The only way for the steward to determine if there was a violation is to get the TACS for the entire station you are assigned.
Don’t forget, if you were violated on 11-22-2023, to write a statement for the steward during your initial steward time that must be granted. The NALC Region 1 for all intense and purposes is requiring carriers to give a statement for anything going to DRT, or above. Do your part, to help all the brothers and sisters that were inappropriately worked on 11-22-2023.
Sadly, I wasn’t in the top 10 to go to the NALC national convention. There’s always the next one, but management will still be held accountable as the learning never stops, neither does the researching, or asking questions. Until management stops abusing the City Letter Carrier there can be no rest. The M-39 115, M-01242, and M-01243 are there to stop you from being abused, but you are the only one that can document that abuse, and request steward time. Only you can stop the abuse being inflicted upon you, request that a steward file the grievance.
December 2, 2023 is when you can be abused, and only earn OT instead of penalty, it will last 4 weeks.
The other day, I watched a management type that was doing what I guess was a 1838 or 3999, follow the carrier into the restroom. I think, that he may have had a stopwatch in his hand, but I could be wrong. Anyway, if you walk into the restroom, and a management type follows you, request steward time immediately. Don’t let them abuse you. In fact, make sure you call the branch, and report that the management type is following you into the restroom. What’s next management peeking over/under the stall………. which has happened before.
