On September 8, 20024 there was a Zoom rap session hosted by Mike Caref. The number I saw was at one point there were 433 people logged on to this zoom meeting. It may have ticked up a little higher, but I didn’t see it. There were a fair number of speakers including CLC presidential candidate James Henry. If you would like to watch it the zoom meeting can be seen on the above link.
Mike Caref seems to be open to questions from anyone. I asked him how often does he carry mail, and his reply was he tries to carry for one week a year. Please note that Mike Caref is the Region 3 NBA, and if he can find the time to carry mail for up to a week at a time, anyone should. He has earned my deep respect by still carrying to this day.
Mike Caref seems to be engaged. Keep in mind it may take a little time for Mike Caref to reply I can say that he has responded to both questions that I asked. What else can we ask for but that, right!!!! The Zoom meeting was only around 1:10 hours, so make sure you give it a listen.
In 2023 my homeowners insurance premium was $470. Now in 2024 it is at $559.
My July 2023 PGE bill was $271.90, my July 2024 bill was just under $400.
My Aug 2023 PGE was $267.14, my Aug 2024 bill was just under $380
Union officers wages are going up, our bills are going up, management pay is going up, the only thing NOT going up is our USPS wages.
I was told , it is expected that a lot of carriers will be at the September 10, 2024 meeting at 7:00pm at NALC Branch 231 4466 W Spaatz, Fresno, CA. 93722. I personally hope so, and if true, I hope they are all going to run for 1 of the 21 positions that will be voted on this November 2024. Remember nominations are happening October 2024.
From what I am hearing there may be at least 2 people running for President, VP, Director of Education, and the Postman’s View Editor. Remember there are 5 Trustees that are responsible for guarding our dues. We of the rank and file need you to run for something, come to each and every meeting, and most importantly vote. Remember, you are the NALC unless you chose not to be.
On a side note, I hope each of you will help me do away with the anti-democracy branch policy of forcing members to either show up to vote, or call NALC Branch 231 to request an absentee ballot. We need to make it where every member is automatically mailed a ballot, this way we are encouraging democracy instead of oppressing it.
The letter below is known as speaking truth to power. You the dues paying members of the NALC are the ultimate people in charge of the NALC. I know some of those that hold office think they are your boss, but they aren’t. This September, October, and November of 2024 you should demonstrate the authority that you have.

Here in Fresno, management types seem to like to complain that some stewards are being “difficult”. To this I say we are the least “difficult” bunch around, if you treat the City Letter Carrier humanely.
Remember that nlrb.gov, osha.gov, dol.gov are some of the many agencies that are there to help you with the abuse you receive from management type and management type witnesses.
