Taking back control of your union will not be easy, but what is these days? I am going to the convention in Boston, and plan on getting more information on both the CLC and Build a Fighting NALC for you. I have donated to the CLC already. When taking on the establishment reaching out to you the rank and file is the most important thing that can be done, and at times it cost money. Every dollar counts, and we all know how poorly your current union dues are being spent in the NALC. If you can donate even $5 after educating yourself about the CLC that would be helpful to our cause of better treatment on the floor where we all work.
Here are the training classes I am planing on taking while at the convention. If you have any questions please call or text.

This is a great podcast everyone should listen to. Make sure you at the very least listen to the first 40 or so minutes. https://fromatoarbitration.com

Some are offended by the language used, so be forewarned there could be a lot of cussing at times.
Now let’s get talking about the August meeting, as you have seen in the July newsletter there is a proposal to give raises to the steward while you are without a contract. This is BS, but if you want your union dues spent that way come to the meeting in August, and vote yes. Be warned though don’t expect any changes in management, because no matter how much even $500/mo will not bring more carriers signing up to be stewards to hold management accountable. Most don’t know this, but I wave my “steward” salary of $100/mo. I do what I do because of my love for the city letter carrier, and I really dislike bullies. Let’s face it, in Fresno with the exception 1-2 management types they all treat craft employees like shit. Rumor has it management is getting a 20% or more raise soon. This is off your backs, and if that doesn’t motivate you to join the fight such as the CLC and Build a Fighting NALC……. I don’t know what will.
Recently on a https://fromatoarbitration.com episode it was said that at Step P the carrier would need a raise of $3.69/hr just to match what we lost in the last 500+ days without a contract ie inflation. For carriers such as myself at Step F that number is probably closer to $5.00-$5.50/, and for new Step A carriers that number is likely to exceed $6.00/hr. For the CCA’s it is even higher. So when you finally hear the big announcement anything below these figures is a pay cut. Also, I recently was informed that a few contracts ago there was no back pay included back in that one. If that is the case when we finally get a new contract you are being screwed even more so.
As was demonstrated last year we all got what the majority voted for, and some of the loudest complainers said in 2022 their vote didn’t count. You are the NALC, and the only way your vote doesn’t count is if you refuse to send in a ballot. Be the change you desire.
I doubt I will have an August article published….. as I was to provocative. LOL
It could be edited, as of right now I do not know anything except the original submission was rejected. The first casualty is always the TRUTH!
