You, musculoskeletal injuries, and your quality of life

Michael, May 27, 2024September 30, 2024

Brothers and sisters, you need to start taking care of yourselves. Here is a link about musculoskeletal pain.
https://www.verywellhealth.com/musculoskeletal-pain-8584815
The number of carriers that I have seen over the years with apparent musculoskeletal injuries is truly amazing. Management types have witnessed it too, but they just care about their bonuses, or whatever term they want to use. They think nothing of grinding you into the ground to make their unrealistic and false times.

I know of at least 20-30 current, or former carriers/CCAs that seem to be suffering from musculoskeletal issues, and the saddest part is at least half of these carriers are under the age of 40. This is because they didn’t take care of themselves, and allowed abusive management to get them to push their bodies beyond its physical limits. Now these carriers/CCAs are being rewarded with constant abuse and harassment, because their bodies can’t keep up with the demands and abuse inflicted by the management types.

Please start listening to your body, take both of your breaks, and your lunch. These short breaks do help your body. Start filling out the PS Form 3996, and factor in the time needed to walk at a safe pace, that you will be able to walk for the next 25-35 years, or until you are ready to retire. This is a great job, has great benefits, and you can make it to retirement age. If you start listening to your body, and filling out the PS Form 3996 to reflect the actual time you need to deliver the route in a safe and healthy manner.

Here in Fresno, management types seem to like to complain that some stewards are being “difficult”. To this I say we are the least “difficult” bunch around, if you treat the City Letter Carrier humanely.

Go Go Chiefs the Super Bowl Champions, isn’t Chiefs red so beautiful. Winning the Super Bowl 3 times in a row will be a great achievement.

Boy what a week brothers and sisters, at Hughes I did actually find 2 routes that are just slightly over 8 hours in zone 5, probably by around 15-30 minutes, or so. It was like being on vacation compared to a bunch of the others that are 1-2+ hours over…
