Your vote is important!!!

Michael, October 19, 2023September 30, 2024

Hello brothers and sisters. If you want to vote for me to go to the NALC convention there appears to be 2 ways to do this. You must either come to the meeting on 11-14-2023 or contact NALC Branch 231 at (559) 449-8058, and ask that an absentee ballot be mailed to you. If you vote via absentee ballot I believe there are 2 places that your signature is required, so please make sure you follow all the instructions to ensure that your very very important vote is counted.

I suspect the race(s) will be tight, and every vote is important. There are 26 nominees(I think that was the number), but only 10 are going in addition to the 5 Chair Officers.

What is funny(sad) is that a decent size minority of due paying members fail to understand what drives me. Some scheme with management, and work against the letter carriers knowing that my position is that I do not believe in filing Article 10 charges against a fellow carrier as that is akin to suing myself, and I even stated as much at a monthly meeting.

As I have said before, you are the union, if you have an opinion it matters, and I will be one of your biggest advocates, even if at the end we disagree with you. I truly believe in freedom of speech, and for me the most important speech is the speech that I disagree with. I believe that if we have a difference of opinion through open and honest dialog we will come to an understanding that is best for the city letter carrier, which is what the NALC is all about.

Very recently there was a carrier mauled by a dog at a Fresno station, and the reports that I am getting is management made fun of the carrier. I honestly hope that isn’t the case, but I was not there to confirm or deny this report. What I do know is that management is 100% to blame. Grievances have been filed to ensure that time is given to for dog cards are cased, but management is so intent on getting a 60, 50 minute, or less office time that carriers especially ones casing 2+ routes do not case the dog cards, or any of the informational cards for that matter, so they can meet managements made up office times. Everyone in management at the station level knows dog cards are not being made or cased because of the 60/50 minute office time that is being pushed. I suspect, in the end this carrier will be issued discipline, and I truly hope a thorough investigation is done by the steward. If one is done, the guilty party will be obvious for all to see once the case gets to DRT or arbitration. If you’re the steward in this dog mauling discipline case put in for steward time to talk to me, and I will tell you the truth about what is really happening.

My fingers are crossed, in fact today I had a conversation with someone, and I am hoping that they write an article about how the route counts work. You see, accurately following the M-41 is crucial to a fair, and honest route adjustment on the route you are carrying. Otherwise the REAT teams may disallow some of your time, while this is unfair, there may not be much that can be done, so I strongly caution you to follow the M-41 to the letter. Otherwise, the overburdened route that you carry will even have more added to it.

Please make sure you vote for me to go to the convention.

The calendars are in, on my NSD I will pick them up, and get them distributed.

Go Go Chiefs, remember it’s never to late to get your Chiefs gear for the upcoming Super Bowl.
