WOW!!!!! Management is violating Article 8 daily, so do you know what that means? Free MONEY!!!!! The only way for you to recoup your unpaid wages is for you to ask for steward time, and file under Article 8. Maybe this is the year we will surpass NALC Branch 132’s $1,000,000.00. Anything is possible when the membership unites, and informs their fellow carriers who are on the ODL(the ones who signed up to work up to 12 hour per day 6 days a week) of management abusing them as if they were ODL carriers.
UAR designated as zone 22 carrier’s keep roaming over to zone 5 and take work from me, like WTF. This makes me sad, Christmas is coming up so money is needed for all the gifts. As an ODL carrier in zone 5 it looks like I will be filing Article 8’s almost daily to recoup unpaid wages that I am entitled to.
This past weekend there were WA carriers complaining about being forced to do ODL work on routes other than the ones they carry, and also were complaining that ODL got to go home before sun set. Ask for steward time, and file under Article 8, also you can call the union office and leave a message. A steward will be assigned to you.
At one station the carriers have united, and are working on meaningful and positive change in their working conditions. Any carrier in Fresno can join this movement if you are tired of the hostile/toxic work environment. We have at least 6 arbitrations from around the country on how arbiters have resolved hostile/toxic work environments creating a positive change for all craft employees involved. Write statements, give them to any of the branch officers. No one can make you do the right thing. I ask though, how many you would stay in a relationship if your spouse/significant other abused you like you currently are being in this hostile/toxic work environment?
There are guides published to guide you through all this. Do a search for Publication 553 & Publication 552, these are great, and I have read both of them. Everyone should read them, and when you see a fellow sister or brother being abused write that brother or sister a statement of what you witnessed and heard.
I have seen management come and pull a casemate away from their case, walk 15-20 feet away from the case I was at, and start what appeared to be an abusive conversation. Don’t ever let management do this to you without getting a steward or someone that you trust that will be a witness to what is being said. I let these individuals know that if they want I can write a statement, and the next time they are free to grab me as their witness to this hostile/toxic work environment.
At the end of the day, no one can advocate for you better than yourself though. The abuse will stop when you want it to stop.
